Scenic Experiences

Fiordland National Park is part of Te Wahipounamu, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It gained this distinction in 1986 in recognition of its extraordinary beauty.  The Fiordland National Park was described by the United Nations as having 'superlative natural phenomena' and 'outstanding examples of... the earth's evolutionary history'.

Without doubt Fiordland offers the best scenic experiences in New Zealand.  When nature and beauty collide, extraordinary things happen and our lodge is positioned for you to take the best advantage of what’s on offer.

The National Park accessibility to all its scenic gems is unparalleled.  Incredible vistas and photographic opportunities unfold from the side of the road. Short strolls into the bush reveal incredible flora and fauna, beautiful creeks and waterfalls.  From our lodge and backpackers you can have your morning coffee on the lake front, listen to our friendly tuis, watch the fantails (they certainly will be watching you!) wander round our lake front track, pop across the road and check out lake Mistletoe – all before breakfast.

Whether on foot, boat, car, motorbike, small plane or helicopter, and regardless of budget there is literally something for everyone and you can be immersed in the bounty of a world heritage site with a minimum of effort.
